A New Start

As stated in previous posts, the Bonesaw Brigade is in fact being passed down to under and upperclassmen. I, among several others, will have the honor of taking control of the Bonesaw mayhem. We will continue to bring you all the latest news, scores, pictures, photos, t-shirts, and maybe even a visit from The Man himself, Macho Man Randy Savage (be patient).

As the new management is installed, so is the list of teams that Clarkson will face (and ultimately triumph) over in the 2008-2009 year. The full schedule can be found here. The 36-game season starts on the road against RIT but eventually returns to Potsdam the last weekend of October, when the Golden Knights face-off twice against the Colorado College Tigers. League play officially begins the next weekend after an exhibition match-up against Carleton University. These ECAC match-ups are highlighted by a battle with the Quinnipiac Bobcats as the student section finally learns where Bud Fisher really went after last years thrashing.

Clarkson then takes a hefty vacation away from Cheel Arena before returning home January 9th for the epic Slu(t) contest. This is only to be followed by a trip down to the Crappelton Arena for yet another battle against the Sluzers. Notable games down the stretch of the season include yet another home and home with the Sluzers and also, payback to the Colgate Raiders (this time, with a student section). The regular season and ECAC round-robin officially ends the last weekend of February before Clarkson starts its battle towards the Times Union Center, and ultimately, the MCI Center in Washington, D.C. to claim themselves National Champions.

As for the girls team, they open up their season with three games against Boston foes first weekend of October before making their season home opener against Mercyhurst College October 24th. The girls enjoy a nice 8 game home stand from November to January facing teams such as Vermont, Maine, and four different ECAC opponents. The Lady Knights face off against Slu(t) on February 4th before rounding out the season against Harvard on February 21st.

On a side note, the new writers/staff/members of the Bonesaw Brigade will be here every step of the way giving updates on scores as well as featured articles. However, we would like to thank the originators, and forever members of the Bonesaw Brigade: Jeremy, Tyler, Matt $, Kyle, AJ, as well as the entire Brigade. If it wasn’t for your shenanigans several years ago, the Bonesaw would still be caged up, waiting to unleash its power to some unworthy candidate. Here’s to you! BONESAWWW!

Over the past few years, we've seen the bonesaw go from just a gang of 3 or 4 people with cardboard cutouts of saws, to a full section of the arena, to a giant Bandsaw the size of one of the sections, to our very own Bonesaw animation on the scoreboard, to a full color picture of Bonesaw McGraw on the scoreboard, to our very own voice of Cheel Arena shouting "BONESAW!!", and finally, to the big man Tony Collins bonesawing on stage with certain graduates.

But this, my friends, will surpass all of that.

That is a picture of a frame from the video seen here.  Be sure to click the video that says "Crowd Cheers Clinton."  Then, at around 48 seconds through the video, you'll see the bonesaw unleashed upon the unsuspecting public on the bottom right.

This is truly an epic day for the Bonesaw Brigade and all of its followers.  This is the first step to the Bonesaw Party that will be featured in the 2012 election.  Macho Man, we're looking at you for our nominee.

To The Future

As some of you know, some of the core Bonesaw Brigade were seniors this past Spring semester, and most of these seniors graduated and have moved on.  Three of us on Bonesaw.org have graduated, actually.  Myself, Matt $, and Jeremy.  What does this mean for the future of Bonesaw.org?

The site is being passed on to the next of kin (or lower classmen) of the bonesaw core members.  The site will be in their hands from here on out, and when they're done with it perhaps it will be passed on again.  The fate of the site, and the saw, is ultimately up to the new core brigade.  Jeremy, Tyler,  myself, and others have worked like hell to keep this site running and up to date, and it takes a lot of dedication to make it worth your while, and I can only imagine that the next set of bonesaw.org staff will share that dedication.  (Right?)

We had a lot of support this past year, with links coming in from the Clarkson Athletic's official website, various hockey forums, and even some hits from wikipedia entries.  We were averaging more than 100 unique visitors a day during the season, and we saw big booms in traffic over home game weekends of course.  We ended up with around 24,000 unique visitors for the hockey season.  The photo album saw a good 20,000+ views, and Bonesaw shirt sales were maxed out.

The fans of the Golden Knights continue to grow in number and power as the years go on.  Stay tuned for whatever mayhem and madness happens next season.  That's it for me!  (And dont forget about Bonesaw: The Game)

Just a quick update from your friendly neighborhood webmaster.  The Bonesaw site has been undergoing a lot of hosting issues over the past month or so, and we appreciate the loyal visitors sticking with us through these tough times.  Basically what happens is that the main page queries a database for all of the info it needs, like news posts, upcoming games, and all that.  For whatever reason, our webhosts "upgraded" their systems, thus causing our site to slow to a crawl.

It looks like things are slowly working themselves out now though, loading times should be getting better as time goes on.

As for the Bonesaw awards, don't worry: the 2nd Annual Bonesaw Awards are still being developed.  These are very important awards, and we wont accept anything less than the highest quality when it comes time to post them.

Thanks for sticking with us through the 2007 - 2008 season of Clarkson Golden Knights Hockey.  It sure was a blast, and I hope you all had as much fun as we did.  Most of the staffers at Bonesaw.org are going to be graduating in a few weeks, and we'll be turning the site over to new management for the next installment of Clarkson Hockey.  There will probably be more information on this as the summer approaches, but for now just sit tight because the Bonesaw awards will be coming soon!

A Gripping Hockey Season Comes to a Close

The Clarkson Golden Knight’s had a fantastic season this year, finishing the regular season with an ECAC record of 15-4-3 which gave them the title of Regular Season Champs. Their overall record during the regular season gave the Green and Gold their second straight 20 win season with a record of 20-10-4.

Unfortunately the Knights ECAC Tournament play came to a gripping halt in the quarterfinals against Colgate. After the Knights took a 1-0 game lead in the best of 3 series, Colgate was able to win in game two, and again in double overtime to send the Raiders to the semi-finals and end the Golden Knight’s quest to defend their ECAC League Champion title.

But a new life was given to Clarkson as they had been invited to the NCAA Tournament and would face off with St. Cloud in the regional games in Albany. St. Cloud was the 2nd seed and CU found a 3rd seed. The Knight’s looked to improve their NCAA play record after losing in the first round to UMass last year, while St. Cloud looked for their first ever win in NCAA tournament history. In the second period the Huskies took the lead 0-1, but Steve Zalewski wouldn’t let them go into the break with the lead, taking advantage of a rebound off the goalies leg pad and lobbing it right over his head into the goal. Shea Guthrie put the Green and Gold ahead early in the third, skating past several defenders and finishing it up with a nice back handed shot in net. For the rest of the period the Golden Knight’s defense played strong and Leggio was solid, as the Knights won the first round matchup 2-1.

The following evening the Knights now faced #1 nationally ranked Michigan for a chance at a ticket to the Frozen Four next weekend. Throughout the first period CU proved they can skate with the power houses out west, and even out muscle them from time to time. However, Michigan was able to take advantage of a power play to take the early lead, 0-1. The score remained the same through the second period, and Clarkson continued to lay steady pressure on Michigan’s net, while Leggio held strong for the Knights. Then, to start the 3rd, the Wolverines were able to add some padding to their game, bring the score to 0-2 in their favor. At the end of the period, with Leggio pulled to give the offense on final boost, the Golden Knights found themselves with a 6 on 3 opportunity as 2 Wolverines were in the box, but even with the added attackers, the Knights just couldn’t get on the board. The game ended with the score Golden Knights 0, Michigan 2.

This season marked yet another successful Clarkson campaign, although some areas of the post season may have lead to some disappointment in the team, there was also a lot of promise shown where our very young team was able to hold their ground and fight toe to toe with some of the best teams in the nation. Personally I was very happy with the season and although it could have been better, there were several thrilling moments and major victories that made watching the Clarkson Golden Knights this season very enjoyable.

On behalf of the entire Bonesaw Brigade, I just want to congratulate all of the players on the team, and wish them best of luck next season, and to all of our graduating Seniors, good luck with whatever lies down your road.

LET’S GO TECH!!! We will see you next October.

Game 3 At 7 PM Sunday

In what was probably one of the worst officiated game I have ever seen (and this goes for calls that would have benefited either team) Clarkson fell on the short end of a game that saw 7 goals against two of the leagues best goalies. Of course the lack of penalty calls benefited Colgate more than the Golden Knights as they are one of the dirtiest teams in the ECAC and it showed tonight, but you would be able to tell by the penalty minutes. Unfortunately even though CU scored 3 goals on Dekanich, Colgate put in 4 garbage goals themselves including the game winner that was extremely controversial.

Clarkson loses Game 2, 3-4, but will take the series tomorrow night at 7 PM in Cheel Arena.
